East Europe Committee of the Swedish Health Care Community (SEEC)

Hälso- och sjukvårdens Östeuropakommitté (ÖEK)

The East Europe Committee of the Swedish Health Care Community (SEEC) is a non-governmental professional organisation founded in 1992 on the initiative of the Swedish Medical Association, The Swedish Medical Society, the Swedish Association of Health Professionals and the National Board of Health and Welfare.

SEEC was established to promote a sustainable development in the health and medical care sectors and closely related social spheres in the neighbouring countries of Eastern Europe. During the first years SEEC worked mainly with projects in the Baltic States. Since then its involvement in Eastern Europe has expanded and the north-western part of Russia including the Barents region has been of high priority. The focus since 2009 is on Belarus.
