Maritime policy and blue growth

Under a Service Framework Contract with the EU Commission / DG MARE, s.Pro as part of the ECORYS/s.Pro/MRAG consortium has developed the study “Support activities for the development of maritime clusters in the Mediterranean and Black Sea areas”.

Based on the updated analysis of the growth potential of the European maritime economy, Blue Growth opportunities have been identified in sea basins including the Mediterranean and Black Sea.

The purpose of this project has been to address the specific need for more targeted work on the development of maritime clusters in the Mediterranean and Black Sea areas. Maritime Clusters can play an important role in creating synergies along maritime supply and value chains, in bringing about innovations, opening new markets and in creating new job opportunities.

With this project, s.Pro and its partners have provided a clear picture of maritime clusters in the Mediterranean and Black Sea areas in terms of patterns (public or private driven, market outreach, value-chains, geography of business relations), quality and quantity of partners (size of the companies, public and private entities), performances (indicators) and sectors. Within the overall study s.Pro has been in particular responsible for the Adriatic-Ionian sub-sea basin.
